Four years ago I pitched the idea of an adult version of the Three Investigators as a comic together with illustrator Hanna Wenzel. After I was allowed to break a taboo by visualizing the three detectives in a comic book as early as 2015 (in Germany, the Three Investigators are best known for their ongoing radio play adaptation, and to that date there hasn't been any official illustration of the main characters) I am delighted to commit the next sacrilege together with Hanna. The series is enormously successful in Germany, here known as Die drei ??? (The three ???).
The story in Rocky Beach is set in the 1990s, and the reunion of the three friends, who have since grown apart, will be anything but smooth and easy. Captured by Hanna in a wonderful black and white style and with my hope to give the childhood friends of many a second chance: As adult friends, with all their shortcomings and doubts and failures.
A small excerpt, which does not reveal too much, is allowed at this point. Just like the trailer video, which was equipped with harmonious music by the fantastic Michael Scheuber.
