In 2010 I was still jobbing part-time at a record store. It was there, when I fell for the illustrious world of Heavy Metal album cover art. It’s so unique compared to other music genres, and yet so consistent and practical in its own codes. And you know what: kids dig it! Not the music necessarily, but whenever record dad’s allow their kids to listen to a record of their choice while he’s browsing the shelves, guess what they chose? Any random Iron Maiden record that is in store!! So, this is how I came up with this coloring book, which we published at Zwerchfell in 2011. And like a good metal record, it is still going strong.
